Blast # 29

Thanks to all our classmates and their guests who made the Aiken ’71 50th Anniversary Reunion a night to remember. To keep memories of that celebration alive and available to everyone, we’ve added three new features to our free website, Aiken71.com.

First and foremost is the Reunion Photo Album, where you can easily add any photos you took during our Nov. 6 party. Quite a few classmates already have and we encourage you to do so, too.  If you visit Facebook, you can also share your photos in the 1971 Aiken Falcons group.

We have also added two links to Aiken71.com. One of them, Aiken '71: Musical Memories, includes all 67 songs that Reunion attendees requested to hear at our party. The other, Aiken '71: Favorite Songs, features the 10 songs that received the most requests from our attendees, with the order of the first five determined by votes cast by our classmates during the week of the Reunion.

In a close race, James Taylor’s heartfelt version of “You’ve Got a Friend” edged the title track from Marvin Gaye’s game-changing album What’s Going On. Both playlists are available to all on Spotify, which offers a free service in addition to its paid subscription plans.

Last but not least, you can view the slide show we displayed at the Reunion of images from our high school days. Compiled by Mary Wesseler Perkins with assistance from Saul Aguiar, Lisé Keith Bohannon, Sue Stenten Gilman, and Geoff Mayfield, it's the intersection of Belmont Avenue and Memory Lane.

We look forward to seeing the photos you share on Aiken71.com, just one of the features that make our website a place where classmates can keep in touch with one another for years to come. If you haven’t yet created a profile on our free Aiken71.com website, it's not too late, and we encourage you to do so, even if you weren’t able to attend our event.

Thanks, again, to the classmates and friends from near and far who made our Reunion at Centennial Barn an occasion to savor.

Sincerely,

Your 50th Reunion Committee
