The purpose of this page is to update everyone on Safety Protocols and check-in expectations for our Reunion on November 6th.
Our goal is to have a fun, and safe, evening of fellowship at Centennial Barn, which has spacious indoor and outdoor areas. Taking cues from airlines, the entertainment industry, sports and other public gatherings, and consistent with current local health department rules and guidance, we are implementing the following Safety Protocols:
1) At check in, each guest will be asked to verify one of the following:
a) proof of vaccination,
b) a negative COVID-19 test conducted on or after November 3,
c) results of an antibody test conducted on or after November 1 that shows the presence of COVID-19 antibodies (a “positive” test result).
2) Guests who cannot provide one of these will still be welcome, but must wear a mask while indoors except for when actively eating or drinking.
3) We have emailed every paid ticketholder in advance of our Reunion in an effort to make everyone aware of these expectations. We are also posting these expectations on the Reunion website and are ensuring that each participant is aware of and agrees to these precautions in advance of the event.
4) All of the Barn’s staff have been vaccinated and all who work our event will wear masks. There will be hand sanitizer available throughout the venue.
The goal of the above-stated protocol is the same as it was in January when we postponed our 50th Anniversary Reunion from Memorial Day to November 6: to provide “the best party possible, with the highest possible attendance … an evening when we see faces instead of masks … handshakes and hugs rather than elbow bumps and six-foot separation. A time when people feel safe being there, and also getting there—including our many out-of-town classmates who may be flying or driving.” Our protocol would be in line with procedures being rolled out nationally by the two largest concert promoters in the industry.
We are advising all ticket holders and potential attendees of these requirements now to
a) help encourage classmates who have been on the fence about attending to join us, and
b) avoid surprises and/or arguments when we gather on November 6.
Even with these precautions, some classmates or guests may decide to wear a mask throughout the event. Their reasons for doing so might be personal, medical, or both. The committee urges all attendees to respect the preferences of those who do. Centennial Barn is spacious, and has large indoor and outdoor areas that will provide ample opportunities for social distancing. Friendly fellowship has been our goal throughout the planning process, even before COVID-19 forced its way into our vocabulary.
If you have any further questions or concerns about our COVID-19 protocol, please contact the committee here. More than 115 tickets have been sold for our Reunion as of October 18 and we are excited to see so many old friends on November 6.
