I have a significant other in Madrid Spain (Iván) and spend about half the year there (traveling on hiatus until Covid-19 is under control). Love to talk about my second home in Madrid and my adventures in Morocco, Cuba, Borneo and future travels planned for Greece and Turkey.

School Story

I measure how many years it’s been since high school by the number of times I have heard the 17 year cicadas. It’s been 3 times since sitting in German class when the cicadas came through the windows. Those are a lot of years.

So I’d like to share this thought. Some 20 years ago, September 12th, 2001, I got a call from Stephan. He knew I was living in NYC and got my number from directory assistance. He called to check to see how I was doing. Stephan was just being Stephan, a genuinely nice guy. That quick phone call meant a lot to me and one of the good memories from that horrible week. Thanks Stephan. I wanted you to know I never forgot that.
